IC1s release Christmas charity single for SHELTER (+ win Kasabian Tickets)

The brilliant IC1s are releasing a Christmas charity single "KARMA (It's On Your Side)" in aid of the homeless charity Shelter on Monday December 19th on "25th Hour Convenience Store", the independent label belonging to the Libertine's, Gary Powell.

The track will be available for download and the ALL of the proceeds will go directly to support the vital work that Shelter do every day to help people faced with homelessness. It's a genuine quality Indie Rock outing that is well worth a few of your hard earned pence to go towards a brilliant cause this Christmas.  You'll be singing the chorus well into next year I guarantee it..

As the band's Jesse James, explains "People are faced with losing their home every single day in any given town or city; if you open your eyes it's right in front of you. Christmas is the perfect time to show some goodwill and help out. Shelter does sterling work and we are proud to be supporting them"

This will be the second release from the band who's debut release LEVITATE (click here to listen) reached number 24 in the iTunes Alternative Singles chart in a week when the chart was dominated predominantly by former high charting hits from acts such as Kings Of Leon, Coldplay, Arctic Monkeys and others..

The single is available to pre-order HERE and there's a compettition via the band's Facebook page (HERE) to win tickets to see KASABIAN with support from MILES KANE.

The band are a firm favourite of Oasis discoverer and Creation Records founder Alan McGee who has been a strong supporter of the band from the start.  Since then - just a mere 14 months - the band have shared stages with The Cribs, The Charlatans, Tinie Tempah, Proud Mary, Badly Drawn Boy, Calvin Harris, Bloc Party, Tim Burgess and many more.

McGee says “They remind me of The Who during the Tommy period meeting punk rock. I have known Daniel the singer for 6 years and its great seeing him become great musically over the years. Its a tune!”

A highlight for the band this year was when they were invited to perform at Tim Burgess' personally curated 'Friends Of Mine' festival in Manchester, expanding the fan base to include Mani from the Stone Roses, who after seeing them exclaimed that he “fucking loved it” and since rumours have been circulating over the web that IC1s will be one of the bands to support the Stones Roses in 2012.

Other people championing IC1s include;-

XFM's Pete Donaldson - "They're a little bit Libertines, a little bit Ramones - but they're certainly 100% hundred percent London. WHACK JACK (click here to listenmust surely serve as a stomping, unifying crowd pleaser live. The punk rock chorus comes out of precisely nowhere and is the sort of thing the word 'tasty' was invented for"

Absolute Radio's Sarah Champion - "Love the band and name…Indie pop rock with attitude, particularly infectious!"

and Mark Beaumont (NME, The Times, The Guardian) - "A proper, no messing about rock band!"

Just in cased you missed it above, the single is available NOW to pre-order HERE and costs a mere £1.29.  Go on do your good turn this Christmas and get a cracking tune for your iPod into the bargain.

Looking for the future? Check out FRONTIERS.

Every now and then a band comes along that are THAT good that they make you want to swear.  Well I'm telling you, FRONTIERS are THAT FUCKIN' GOOD!!!

Apart from good songs, which they have, they have that quality of bringing great bands to mind while remaining unique.  Amongst the bands they bring to mind are early New Order, The Cure, The Cult, Puressence and even a bit of Kasabian so you know they have a great sound before you scroll down to have a listen.

So who are FRONTIERS?

They are Jacob Austin,  Jonnie Barnett,  Charlie Burley,  Alex Noble and they are from Nottingham.  They've been around since 2007 and had a period of limelight around 2009 when they raised a few eyebrows, but they took a step back from the limelight and have re-emerged this year with a buzz of expectancy surrounding them.

They've written some new songs and thrown away some old and what they are playing right now is top notch.  Ladies and gentlemen, turn your volume up....... I give you FRONTIERS:--

THE CHAPMAN FAMILY Announce NOVEMBER OFFENSIVE TOUR (and wage war on The Government)

THE CHAPMAN FAMILY have announced an 18 date NOVEMBER OFFENSIVE TOUR kicking off tonight in Manchester.

The tour, in the words of the band, is in homage to the gunpowder plot of 1605 and they are "waging war on the leaders of this country and all the apathetic zombies who have allowed them to fuck us into the gutter".

We'll all have a bit of that eh?

The full statement reads:-

Remember remember the fifth of November Gunpowder, treason and plot. I see no reason why gunpowder, treason should ever be forgot...

This November in homage to the legendary plot of 1605 we will be waging war with the leaders of this country and all the apathetic zombies who have allowed them to fuck us into the gutter. We are declaring a state of artistic emergency from within the “music industry” where creativity, relevance and integrity have been replaced by the banal, the pointless and the derivative. We are raising our colours and heading once more into the breach and seeking out those of you who like us can't relate to the man sitting at the head of the nations table making decisions that neither help nor represent us or to the artists who claim to be like us and speak for us. Fuck them. This is our opening salvo, our November Offensive. It is a statement of intent and it is just the beginning.

The riots this August proved that if enough people can be mobilised under an ideal then they cannot be stopped. Whether the reasons for the violence and rage felt in our capital and throughout this country were righteous or not is irrelevant, it's the motivational message that matters. It's a message that resonated deep within us and it's the message that has inspired us. We have always striven to be a band that stood for something, to be a band where the word dissonance wasn't just used as a description of our sound, to be a band that were never afraid to say what we really felt and to never compromise or sell out our integrity. Now more than ever we feel capable of living up to what we always hoped we could be. We're tighter, leaner and more focused than we have ever been. We have two new family members who share our anger at the present and our hopefulness and optimism for the future. We are reverting back to the DIY ideals that built this band and are taking control of our own destiny.

Just as the plot of 1605 has resonated forever through history so too will this tour resonate forever through our history. It will be remembered as the time we stood up and spoke out against the injustices that we live through in this country every day, against the prejudices of our government and the grinning, flaccid cunt in charge, against the cuts to our public sector which have forced unemployment up to its highest level in 15 years, against the bible bashers and crazed anti-abortionists who want to take away the right of choice from the women of this country, against the openly racist and xenophobic beliefs of organisations like the EDL and the BNP and against the dumbing down and commoditization of art. We have a voice and we intend to use it and we urge you to do the same. Once more into the breach dear friends...

Not sure I totally agree about the scruffy bastard rioters intent but I see their point.

The tour dates are:-

01/11 MANCHESTER Sound Control
02/11 LONDON Wheelbarrow
03/11 HIGH WYCOMBE Bucks Uni
04/11 SUNDERLAND Sumo @ Independent
05/11 STOCKTON-ON-TEES Georgian Theatre

THE WAY WE'RE MADE (MADE IN ENGLAND) (Low volume on this one, Turn it up)

NOW! Haven't you bought it yet? Get involved people....

THE STONE ROSES are reforming.

SHIT MAN!!!!  THE STONE ROSES ARE REFORMING...  I can't actually believe I'm typing this.  The world has been STONE ROSESless since 1996 when John and Ian fell out and the band members moved on to other things, but it looks like the past is the past and the FUTURE IS LEMON!

A "Very important announcement" will be made at a press conference in London on Tuesday (18th October). That's as much as has been said officially but on the grapevine it is being said that there are initially two gigs planned for Manchester in 2012 followed by a full UK tour and then gigs around Europe.

Watch this space for further details, and keep an eye on the news on Tuesday.....

The NME are running a story following a 'cryptic message' from Reni stating "Not before 9T will I wear the hat 4 the Roses again".  They are suggesting that this means Reni will not be involved despite the fact that Reni has been up for a reunion for years.  However, he WAS the first to leave the band so we'll have to see who turns up on Thursday.

MILES KANE Hits Middlesbrough to kick of his UK tour. (Videos)

The God of Mod cool, Miles Kane kicked off his UK tour in Middlesbrough tonight with a storming and enthusiastic performance at The Empire.  The sell out crowd managed to match him for enthusiasm and together they blew the place apart.  Performing plenty of tracks from his "The Colour Of The Trap" album, he also added a cover of The Beatles "Hey Bulldog" and a BRAND NEW track written only last week called "Woman's Touch".

A brilliant gig. Brilliant crowd.  Brilliant Miles Kane.

More Videos to follow....

THE SMITHS - The Complete Catalogue is now available.

If I hear one more person quote 'Reissue, repackage repackage' I'm going to slap someone.

You forgot to read inbetween the lines for the bit that said "Remaster, Remaster and then release as good a version of the songs as is possible". SHUT IT!!!

I for one am over the moon to be able to own a completelty REMASTERED (by Johnny Marr) copy of The Smiths' catalogue.  They are still the most influential English band ever and to have the tracks remastered by the man who wrote them is top.

Really pleased that this is finally in the world.

IC1s debut single "Levitate" OUT TODAY. Check 'em out.

I've said many times recenly that we're currently experiencing good times as far as new bands and music goes.  One of the most exciting prospects for the next couple of years are definitely IC1s.  Formed in London barely a year ago, their reputation is growing rapidly from word of mouth and today sees the release of the brilliant official debut single "Levitate".   If you've not heard this song yet or the demo version that's been floating around, you will be hooked from the second the drums kick in.

IC1s are not all hype and talk though.  They have the songs to back up their reputation and already have some high profile fans.  Alan McGee can't stop talking about them and The Libertine's Gary Powell has put the Levitate single out on his "25 Hour Convenience" record label.  The band have also shared a stage with some big names already including The Cribs and The Charlatans.

I see only big things ahead for IC1s (no pun intended) and I can't wait to experience them live and to hear more material. (Check the SoundCloud link below for some demos)

Chek 'em out. Get involved.  See them play...

LEVITATE is available now on iTunes HERE (BUY IT TODAY!)

808 STATE - Blueprint - The Best Of . On iTunes NOW.

Blueprint ZTT Salvo sleeve

If you know anything about Dance music or House music or if you journeyed anywhere near Manchester in the late 80s to early 90s then you already know that 808 State are the Dance DJ House Music Kings (I just made that up.) They have produced some of the most anthemic Dance / House tracks out there as well as writing and producing for numerous other artists.

BLUEPRINT is titled as "The Best of 808 State" and it is completely excellent, but there is no way that you could put the best of 808 State on a 17 track album.  However.  If you know 808 State then this is an excellent addition.  If you don't know them then this is an excellent starting point.

Go and buy it TODAY!!

Available on iTines HERE

The first new material from the amazing 12 DIRTY BULLETS since their debut album "Downsides To Making A Living" is out TODAY!

If you've had your head in a shed for the last couple of years and haven't experienced 12 DIRTY BULLETS yet, either live or recorded, then you need to remedy this now. So far the band have been running parallel to the success that is inevitable and that they undoubtedly warrant and deserve but one day soon the world will tire of the mindless drivel that is currently filling the charts and the airwaves and the great British guitar band will return to the fore. 12 DIRTY BULLETS are definitely one of the bands that will be up there leading the charge and they will switch lanes into the mainstream and the world will take notice. Bring it on.

The first new ammunition for the battle ahead is "MOTOWN", the first release from the band's as yet unnamed second album. Another perfectly crafted rock 'n roll song that makes your mouth water as a taster for what's coming on the album.  The chorus almost serves as a warning that 12 DIRTY BULLETS are coming to take over the world town by town. "We go Motown in YOUR town..." and you better listen or be left behind with your Beyonce and N-Dubz CDs.

MOTOWN along with the few other new songs that the band have been playing live recently make for exciting times ahead. Times in which the band are going to be playing plenty of live dates around the world for you to catch a glimpse of them up close and to experience the band, the OUTSTANDING old songs and the AMAZING new songs before the album hits the streets.

Get involved. Get the song, Get the album. See the band. Motown in YOUR Town. Soon!

NOEL GALLAGHER'S first Solo single debuts on YouTube in the morning.

Noel Gallagher - The Death Of You And Me Video Grab

Forget all the mini leaks and teasers.  The long awaited first solo release from The Right Rhumorable Mr Noel Gallagher will debut on his YouTube channel @ (get this) 8.21 AM in the morning UK time.

A much as I loved OASIS from 1994 until their sad demise, I personally have been waiting for this solo material since about 1997.  Noel Gallagher is undoubtedly one of the most God gifted muscians to ever pluck the earth and this new stuff is gonna' have that ability to grab you by the heart and the balls at the same time, just like the first time you heard CAST NO SHADOW.  Be excited.  Set your alarm for 8.17 AT THE LATEST.

IPD Recommendation: Campag Velocet - Bon Chic Bon Genre. (Album)

Artist: Campag Velocet
Album: Bon Chic Bon Genre

Campag Velocet formed in 1993 in London.  They didn't release this, their debut album until 1999.  I was turned onto this album when I heard the title track 'Bon Chic Bon Genre' as Brother took the stage at Middlesbrough Uncle Alberts.  I traced the track and the wonders of this album are now mine forever.

The odd thing is, the rest of the album bears almost no resemblance to the track Bon Chic Bon Genre but I still love it.

Imagine if Johnny Marr had joined the Sex Pistols yeah?  That gives you an idea of the sound of the bulk of the album.  There are also bits of Primal Scream in there, giving some of the tracks a trippy feel but not quite reaching psychedelia.

I think they've dispanded now but this album was worth them existing...

Give it a Go....  LOUD in your car..... The drunker the better..

MORRISSEY slams William and Kate @ Middlesbrough Town Hall (Video)

At last night's Middlesbrough Town Hall gig, Morrissey slammed Prince William and his wife Kate after seeing them on the news attending a rodeo in Canada. While introducing The Smiths song MEAT IS MURDER, Morrissey explained how the bulls used have barbed wire wrapped around their testicals to agitate them.  He went on to descrive how "Shitty William and Shitty Kate" clapped along to the cruelty.  Watch the video below.

Full gig review and pictures to follow.

BROTHER have been forced to change their name due to some Australian "powerhouse celtic tribal trio"  (What does that even mean?) who apparently had the name first.  So they are now Viva Brother.  What's in a name anyway? They are still the same band and the other Brother are still SHIT nobodys.

Read the VIVA BROTHER's statement below.

The U.K. band BROTHER have changed their name to VIVA BROTHER after a legal challenge by another band named "Brother." The U.K. band Brother, with their increasingly high profile in America, came to the attention of the other band- an Australian 'powerhouse celtic tribal trio' based in the USA that combine 'the deep pulse of the didgeridoo, the soaring highs of the bagpipes, and tribal percussion.'

In the spirit of The Chemical Brothers and Santigold before them, the band decided that life would be simpler if they changed their name for the world rather than just the USA, and avoided a battle in the US courts - Viva Brother were born. They were briefly called 'Brother UK' in the USA, like the Charlatans UK before them, but the geographical addition to the word Brother was not accepted in this new digital age.

Lead singer Lee Newell said, 'A long time ago in a galaxy far far away three men decided one day that it would be a good idea to start a band called Brother. Many, many years later four frighteningly handsome devils in the desolate, post apocalyptic wasteland of Slough decided to do the same thing. But something called "litigation" got in the way. However with this out of the way we do finally feel free. Brother is dead. Long Live VIVA BROTHER!'

Viva Brother's debut album release date hasn't changed and it is still due on August 1st.
